Walkable beach strip, night-time bands, goats on a roof, and a Piggly Wiggly with a shockingly good local beer aisle. 22 places → Ephraim White clapboard, sailboats, and an ice cream landmark that has been scooping since 1906. 8 places → Fish Creek The lively one — gateway to Peninsula State Park, summer theatre, and the best big breakfast on the peninsula. 15 places → Egg Harbor Galleries, orchards, and the southern edge of what we consider the real Door County. 9 places → Baileys Harbor The quiet side. Lake Michigan light, rare wildflowers at The Ridges, and some of the best food up north. 9 places → Ellison Bay Bluff views, dark skies, and the trailheads we love most. Bring proper footwear. 13 places → Gills Rock The tip of the peninsula. Million-dollar water views and smoked fish. 3 places → Jacksonport Working artist studios tucked into quiet countryside on the lake side. 3 places → Sturgeon Bay The county seat and the working end of the peninsula: shipyards, the canal and its lighthouse, and a downtown built on both sides of the bridge. 2 places → Worth the Drive Not on the peninsula, but worth a stop on the way up. 3 places →
